John E. Dobraniecki, AIA, LEED AP, Principal
John Dobraniecki, AIA, is a native and resident of Wilmington, DE. He received his Associates Degree in Architecture from Thaddeus Stevens State School of Technology in 1985. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the local chapter, and is a registered architect in the State of Delaware. John is an Associate of DCI and has been an employee since 1985. John has been responsible for all phases of architecture from initial design, construction documents, contract negotiation through construction administration, and occupancy. John has been involved with a variety of projects from custom homes and additions to office buildings, warehouses, school additions, apartment buildings, townhouse projects, and child care centers. Clients have included the City of Wilmington, Sanford School, Tatnall School, Ursuline Academy, Christiana Care, Trinity Episcopal Church, Mike’s Famous Harley Davidson, Community Housing, Inc., Red Clay School District, and Rollins Investments. He is a LEED-certified professional. Recreational interests include old cars and motorcycles, guitar, and spending time at his cabin in the Poconos.
Rosalyn M. Keesee, RA, LEED AP, Principal
Rosalyn Keesee, RA, LEED AP is a two-time graduate of the University of Virginia where she received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Masters of Urban + Environmental Planning. With an extensive background in both architecture and planning, Rosalyn brings a holistic perspective to each project. She is particularly adept at managing the details of a project without losing sight of the bigger picture. Rosalyn has a proven record of successfully leading consultant teams and projects of various sizes – feasibility and schematic studies, project entitlement, small renovations, large housing developments, and accessibility review and barrier removal just to name a few. She is a registered architect in the State of Delaware, a LEED-certified professional, and a member of the American Planning Association. Additional interests include traveling, interval training, and spending time with family and friends.
Lee Sparks, AIA, Founding Principal
Since co-founding Design Collaborative, Inc. in 1979, Lee has been responsible for all phases of architecture from initial client contact through design, construction, and occupancy. With a focus on innovative design, Lee has had extensive professional success with projects both large and small. A native of Wilmington, he is a 1975 graduate of the Miami University School of Architecture located in Oxford, Ohio. Lee holds an NCARB certificate allowing reciprocation of licensure to most states and many foreign countries. He is currently licensed in Washington D.C., Delaware, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Lee is the Chairman of the Buildings and Properties Committee and the Endowment Committee for the YMCA of Delaware. He is a board member of the Delaware Architecture Foundation. Additional interests include swimming, coaching swimming, salt water fishing, and music.
Joseph T. Chickadel, AIA, Founding Principal
Joe Chickadel, a founding principal of Design Collaborative, Inc., is a native of Wilmington. He graduated with a degree in Architecture from Delaware Technical College in 1970 and attended Drexel University. Joe received his registration to practice architecture in Delaware in 1981. Since 1973, he has been involved with a wide variety of institutional, commercial, and industrial facilities. Joe holds an NCARB certificate allowing reciprocation of licensure to most states and many foreign countries. He was the Task Force Chairman for the Design Review and Preservation Commission for the Ice City of Wilmington for 13 years. He is currently licensed in Washington D.C., Delaware, New Jersey, Florida, and West Virginia. Joe’s interests include fly fishing, surfing, and Labradors.
Brian D. Thomas, AIA, Project Architect
Brian Thomas is a 1981 graduate of Spring Garden College in Glenside, PA where he received his Associates Degree in Architecture. His technical background includes over 30 years of working experience in the field of Architecture. An employee of DCI since 1987, Brian has been responsible for project development from initial planning and construction documentation to construction administration through occupancy. His duties have included initial client contact, code research, development of preliminary plans through working drawings, field measurements, as-built drawings, specification writing, bidding, negotiation, and contract administration. Brian has had extensive experience with accessibility issues. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the local chapter, and a registered architect in the State of Delaware. Recreational interests include fishing, horseshoes, and camping.
Daniel C. Hoffman, Assoc. AIA, Project Manager
Dan Hoffman, Associate AIA, is a native and current resident of Newark, DE. He is “post-thesis” in the Bachelor of Architecture program at Drexel University. His technical background includes over 35 years experience working in the field of Architecture. Dan’s duties with DCI have included initial and ongoing client contact, comprehensive research and development of projects from code and regulatory issues, building surveys, “as-built” documentation, design, contract documents, bidding and negotiation, and contract administration. Clients have included the State of Delaware, Connections CSP, YMCA of Delaware, Lang Development, Talleyville Fire Company, Chester Housing Authority, and the Wilmington Housing Authority. He has had recent and extensive experience with many barrier-free and ADA projects. Dan is an Associate member of the American Institute of Architects and the local chapter. His interests include softball, sports, and automobiles.
